1. Visit to the Bangi Industrial Training and Rehabilitation Centre
The Executive Board of the Malaysian Council for Rehabilitation (MCR) visited the Bangi Industrial Training and Rehabilitation Centre on January 13 2005. The briefing was given by Director, Ms. Chong Phaik Khee and she gave the following information:
(a) The Bangi Industrial Training and Rehabilitation Centre were being administered by the Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Malaysia (JKMM). The institute sits on 1,058 hectares of land and has a capacity for 350 trainees.
(b) Its programmes include :
i) IT course (MLVK Level 2) for 10 months
ii) Electrician course (MLVK Level 1) for 10 months
iii) Fashion design and sewing (MLVK Level 1) for 10 months
iv) Electronics course (working towards MLVK) – also 10 months course
v) Pre-vocational programme – for two years
(c) The objective is to develop a centre of excellence in rehabilitation (both medical and physical), sports training and accessibility for the disabled.
(d) It also has plans to become an institute of higher learning in counseling and prosthetics.
The briefing was followed by a short visit around the place.
Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Dr. Hjh Saleha bt. Ali, the President of MCR, expressed deep appreciation for the warm welcome, briefing, and, in particular, the progress that had been made by the centre since 1999 when MCR held the first national rehabilitation conference there.
2. Seminar ‘Violence Againts Women’
Seminar ini merupakan anjuran bersama Majlis Pemulihan Malaysia dengan Philip Morris (M) Sdn. Bhd dan seminar pertama diadakan pada tahun 2004. Sebanyak 4 siri seminar ‘Violence Against Women’ telah dijalankan sepanjang tahun 2005 :-

3. CBR-TOT Skills Enhancement
Siri terakhir ‘CBR-TOT Skills Enhancement’ ini diadakan pada 12 –16 Mac 2005 bertempat di Pusat Latihan dan Hotel Majlis Perkhidmatan Masyarakat Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
